Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 19: In order to carry out the expansion work of Jammu airport and to facilitate night landing service with international flights, the flights operations from the terminus are likely to be suspended for two weeks from October 1. Pertinently, Jammu Airport does not have night landing service due to lack of requisite infrastructure including the length of the runway. The operational runway is 6,700 feet long and it is further being extended by 1300 feet so as to facilitate night landing. Presently, the expansion work of the airport is in full swing while the runway is also being expanded while to make the ongoing exercise smoother and accomplish the task in time, the flights operation may remain suspended for two weeks in October, said sources. "During the closure of the airport, any flight will neither take-off nor will land," they added. |
