Two days training programme organized

JAMMU, Aug 23: Building Centre, Jammu conducted 2 days skilled training programme for the students of Engineering & Architectural Assistantship for Govt. Boys Polytechnic College Jammu under Information, Education & Communication (IEC)/Skills Development Programme for Sustainable Developments on 22nd & 23rd August, 2019. The main objective of this training was to get the students familiar with Non Conventional Cost Effective and Energy efficient Building Materials/Technologies for Sustainable developments & Thermal Comfort.
Highlighting the aims & objectives of Building Centre Jammu established in the year 1996, Ashok Kumar Mahajan, Director, stated that this is an Institute for Promoting Cost Effective Building Technologies and manufacturing of low Cost Building Materials substitute to Conventional building materials/technologies. Its main objectives are to collect, develop, and dissemination of information on various low cost technologies. Further, to provide assistance for Development of Entrepreneurship while organizing various Training Programmes and Standardization of Modular Construction Practices. Various Non Conventional Building Materials/Products manufactured by Building Centre like Cement Concrete Blocks/Bricks, Hollow Blocks, Tiles/Pavers, drains, kerb stones, R.C.C drains covers, slabs and Garden/Driveway Pavers are Cost Effective, Environment Friendly and meeting Quality Standards and useful for Sustainable Developments.
57 numbers of students of Engineering /Architectural Departments & 7 numbers of teaching staff participated during these 2 days Programme and were apprised about Latest technologies develop by Building Centre which would help in future Sustainable Developments.
Ar. Ritika Wadhera, HOD of Department of Architecture, Prof. Ar. Harjinder Singh, Ar. Manu Rajput, Er. Rishab Sharma, Er. Rohit Sharma and other faculty members of the Govt. Polytechnic College, Jammu, attended this two days workshop for up-gradation of their skills.
