Vijaypur, Aug 30: Condemning forced marriage of a Sikh girl in Pakistan, former minister and district president of Congress party Manjit Singh sought intervention of Government of India to protect rights of minority community. In a statement, Manjit Singh said that it is not a good sign to crush minorities in Pakistan where a Sikh girl was compelled to change her religion and converted into Islam. "The girl was compelled change her religion, and forced to marry a Muslim youth," he said, expressing great displeasure. He appealed Prime Minister Narindra Modi for intervention into the matter which has exposed hollow assurance by the Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan. "Pakistan must ensure safety and security of Sikh community, and other minorities in their country," appealed Manjit Singh. In a message to Pakistan, he said, the minorities are asset for a nation and if they are not being protested by majority, then world should intervene and ensure the safety and security of the minorities. |
