Sikh organizations condemn forcible conversion, marriage of Sikh girl in Pak | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Aug 30: Chairman State Gurdwara Parbandhak Board Jammu and Kashmir and ex-MLC Tarlochan Singh Wazir along with representatives of District Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee and other Sikh organizations have strongly condemned the act of fundamentalist elements in Pakistan for forcibly converting and marrying a minority Sikh girl in Nankana Sahib. Addressing a press conference here today, Wazir termed the act as highly reprehensible adding that that it has jolted the Sikh community world over that too at a time when the community is celebrating 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev ji and there was an atmosphere of joy and tremendous appreciation for the first ever Nagar Kirtan from Nankana Sahib to India and opening of Kartarpur Sahib corridor and this news from the same places has agonized the whole community. He further stated that at a time when the Sikhs in India and elsewhere always remained at the forefront in safeguarding the dignity and honor of women belonging to different communities particularly minorities during adverse circumstances. Wazir said that such a treatment to our own women cannot be tolerated and warned that appropriate response shall be given at an appropriate time. |
