Jammu, Sep 4: Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences & Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-J) achieved landmark by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Agriculture Skill Council of India (ASCI) for affiliation of skill development trainings organised by the University in Jammu region. Agriculture Skill Council of India was formed in 2013 with a vision of properly skilling personnel in the Agriculture sector by diminishing the gap between labs & farms. ASCI is functioning under the aegis of National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Govt. of India, with a vision to develop the Skills in Indian Agriculture, as per the global standards, with the support of stakeholders. The MoU was signed by Dr. K.S. Risam, Vice Chancellor on behalf of Directorate of Extension, SKUAST-Jammu and Kamal Sodhi, Regional Manager(North) on behalf of Agriculture Skill Council of India. During the function, Sh. Kamal Sodhi gave a brief presentation on the mandates and activities carried out by Agriculture Skill Council of India. He highlighted the need for compulsory affiliation of skill development trainings organised by SKUAST-Jammu in agriculture and allied subjects. He further informed that with the signing of MoU for affiliating skill development trainings, SKUAST-Jammu is now placed among top most national agriculture, horticulture and veterinary institutes, including PAU, Ludhiana, GADVASU, Ludhiana, CCSHAU, Hisar, LLR University of Veterinary & Animal Sciences, Haryana, Central University Manipur, Horticulture University, Shimoga, TNAU, Coimbatore and OUAT Bhubaneswar. |
