Gujjars, Bakerwals seeking BJP membership in large numbers: Balbir | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 9: The ongoing Membership Drive of Bharatiya Janata Party is witnessing large number of people belonging to the Gujjar and Bakerwal communities coming forward to get themselves enrolled as members and contribute in strengthening the party in the state. This was said by BJP Spokesperson Balbir Ram Rattan, while discussing the requirements and laid down procedure for becoming Active Member of the party with the State Office Bearers of BJP Scheduled Tribe (ST) Morcha at party headquarter on Monday. These State Office Bearers of the Morcha, including State President and his team, are getting Active Membership to enable themselves to take part in the party's organizational elections at Booth, Ward, Mandal, District and State Level. Balbir Ram Rattan told them that the BJP has a healthy tradition of inner democracy, wherein the party holds elections after every three years and the ongoing membership is the first step in this direction. He further told them that an activist of the party who is active for at least three years and registers 100 primary members with the party can become Active Member. He advised them to maintain record of every activity of their Morcha and also get themselves acquainted with the schemes meant for the welfare of the STs in particular and educate the members of their community about the same. |
