MPEJ expresses dismay over BDC elections | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 10: Ram Singh Chouhan and Kuldeep Kumar Rao, the active members of Movement for Peace, Equality & Justice, in a joint statement issued here have expressed great dismay and wonder as to how Governor's administration is hell bent to go ahead with the conduct of 2nd Tier of Panchayati Raj Institution for electing chairperson of Block Development councils in the state when , according to official figures,1057 Panchayats are vacant or where only one Panch or Sarpanch is elected and more than 50% Blocks in the state don't have regular BDOs posted. Under these circumstances conduct of elections for Block Dev. Council, in a hush-hush manner will amount to either simply to create history or please the bosses without delivering any good to the system on the ground. The duo further said that leaving 1057 Panchayats out of B.D.C elections shall tantamount to denial of democratic rights to a large chunk of population and when 50% of 316 total Blocks in the State having no full time BDO will be an exercise to hood wink the already deceived & cheated hapless population of the state over last 72 years, they maintained. Elaborating further, they said that if at all 316 Blocks in J&K state send as many Chair persons to the Block Dev. |
