KVK organizes awareness programme on fertilizer use

Jammu, Oct 22: KVK Jammu under the aegis of Directorate of Extension organized an awareness program on judicious application of fertilizers in land for farmers/farm women.
The program was organized under the overall guidance of Dr. K. S. Risam, Vice Chancellor SKUAST-J. The day long program was attended by more than 150 farmers from different blocks of Jammu district. The objective of the program was to spread awareness among the farmers on effective use of fertilizer based on soil health card recommendations, adoption of sustainable agricultural practices through adoption of Bhartiya Prakritik Krishi Padhyati (BPKP), Zero budget natural farming and water conservation.
The program comprised of two technical sessions wherein technical lectures, demonstrations and exhaustive discussions on soil health and crop nutrition, integrated use of organic manures and fertilizers for increasing efficacy of nutrients, inclusion of pulses for better benefits, use of drip irrigation and fertigation were held.
Earlier, the program started with formal welcome by Dr. Prem Kumar and inaugural address was delivered by Dr. Rakesh Sharma. Sr. Scientist and Incharge KVK-Jammu. Prominent speakers included Dr. P. K. Rai, Sr. Scientist (soil Science), Dr. Jai Kapoor, Jr. Scientist (Agronomy), Dr. A. K. Srivastava Assoc. Prof. (Ag. Engg.), Dr. Rakesh Sharma, Dr. Sheetal Badyal and Dr. Prem Kumar, Scientists KVK Jammu.
The program was conducted by Dr. Prem Kumar, Scientist (fisheries) KVK Jammu. Dr. Rakesh Sharma Senior Scientist KVK Jammu proposed formal vote of thanks to all the invitees, officials from department of Agriculture, CSS society members and farmers for making program successful. The program was assisted by Raju Gupta, Programme assistant (farms) and Poonam Abrol, Prog. Assistant (Training)s, KVK Jammu.
