Samples of medical devices, drug formulations lifted for analysis

JAMMU, Nov 21: Various teams of Drug Control Officers conducted surprise raids in establishments dealing with in-vitro diagnostic Kits and other devices viz Surgical Needles, Catheters etc in Jammu district.
The officers lifted samples of Hepatitis C Diagnostic Kit, Hepatitis B Diagnostic Kit, HIV Diagnostic Kits, One Step Pregnancy Kits, Thyroid detection Kits and sent them to central Medical device Testing Laboratories functioning under the aegis of Ministry of Health & Family Welfare Government of India for testing and evaluation.
Around 20 statutory samples of medical devices were lifted while 120 samples of various categories of drugs viz Anti-allergic, Anti Hypertensive's, NSAID's, Antibiotics Drugs meant for local application etc were also picked up and sent to different drug testing laboratories for analysis of their quality and purity.
The teams, constituted by State Drugs Controller J&K Lotika Khajuria, were supervised by Assistant Drugs Controller, Jammu Mohammad Iqbal Pala.
The reports of testing/analysis of Medical devices and formulations shall provide material evidence to initiate legal action against violators under the relevant regulation.
