CWA appeals LG to set up Consumer Courts | | |
Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 1: Consumer Welfare Association (CWA), Jammu has appealed to the Lt Governor to set up Consumer Courts at the earliest at all levels as enshrined in the Consumer Protection Act applicable in rest of the country. CWA said that consequent upon abrogation of Article 370 and 35A, and reorganization of erstwhile J&K State into two Union Territories- Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, State Consumer Protection Act stood abolished with effect from October 31 adding that as a result Administration of Lt Governor Jammu and Kashmir has abolished all the State Consumer Fora which had the mandate of addressing the consumer grievances. The members of CWA said that it is however painful for the consumers to learn that even after lapse of one month Consumer Redressal Courts at District level and State level have not been established with the result that consumers are at a loss to get their grievances addressed. Besides hundreds of consumer related cases were pending before the earlier consumer courts and the consumers are desperate to get their grievances addressed quickly. |
