Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 8: The High Court of J& K has been gracious in having taken notice of two important articles namely ,a letter written by G S Grewal, President Punjab Medical Council , and an article published in a news paper in the year 2016 , and treated these two articles as PIL. Division Bench of the High Court deserves all the laurels and bouquets for having once again issued explicit directions to the Government of Jammu and Kashmir to ensure effective publicity of 'Indian Medical Council (Professional Conduct, Etiquette and Ethics) Regulations, 2002 and provide wide publicity for knowledge of the public. It is pertinent to state here that these Regulations prescribe many mechanisms to deal with all the issues like:-1. Use of Generic names of drugs; 2:-Highest quality assurance in patient care; 3:-Obligations to the sick; 4:-Unnecessary consultations; 5:-Consultations for patient's benefit; 6:-Fees and other charges; 7:-Rebates and Commission; 8:-Code of Conduct for doctor and professional association of doctors in their relationships with pharmaceutical and allied industry- relating with gifts, travel facilities, hospitality, cash and monetary grants. The High Court also observed that J & K Govt, as per their affidavit, appears to have taken considerable steps in this matter. The CONSUMER WELFARE ASSOCIATION JAMMU (CWA), in its meeting welcomes the directions of the court, and implores the Government to take pharmaceutical and allied industry- relating with gifts, travel facilities, hospitality, cash and monetary grants. |
