Union Council of Ministers to visit J&K from Jan-18, Chief Secretary reviews preparations

JAMMU, Jan 17: Chief Secretary, B V R Subrahmanyam Friday chaired a meeting with the Administrative Secretaries, Divisional and District Administrations to review the preparations for the visit of Union Ministers to Jammu and Kashmir, commencing from January 18, 2020. Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir and Deputy Commissioners participated in the meeting through video conferencing.
Chief Secretary observed that the 38 Union Ministers are scheduled to visit J&K from January 18, 2020 to undertake extensive tour of the districts across 60 different locations, as per the itinerary drawn for the purpose. The objective of the visit is to disseminate the information about the importance of the government policies with regard to overall development of the J&K and its people along with steps taken in this direction in the last 5 months.
The Union Ministers will interact with the people to educate them about the schemes/ projects being implemented / to be implemented by their Ministries in J&K. The outreach programme will cover five themes viz rapid development after Presidents Rule from June, 2018 and after reorganization in August 2019, 100% coverage of 55 beneficiary oriented schemes to all residents of J&K, rapid infrastructure development including implementation of PMDP, flagship schemes and iconic projects, good governance and rule of law with equality of opportunity to all and rapid industrial and economic growth in all sectors wit focus on incomes and employment.
Principal Secretary, Planning, Development & Monitoring Department (PD&MD) will be the overall in-charge to oversee the logistics and arrangements for the visit. The General Administration Department has allocated Administrative Secretaries/ HoDs with the Union Ministers to facilitate their visit. Each Administrative Department has also nominated a Nodal Officer for the visit.
Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir and Divisional Commissioner, Jammu have been designated as Nodal Officers in their respective divisions to coordinate the visit.
A Central Control Room on 24x7 basis with a dedicated team of officers has been established to ensure seamless coordination between various Ministries of Government of India, Administrative Departments, Divisional and District Administration and to facilitate all arrangements including travel, logistics, security and field visits. A separate WhatsApp Group has been set up to keep all concerned Officers informed about all the required details on a real time basis. Chief Secretary issued a slew of directions to the Divisional Commissioners and DCs for closely coordinating the visit of the dignitaries so that all events related to the visit are organized impressively and elegantly with participation of Panchayat Representatives and general public.
Chief Secretary stressed on complete synergy between Administrative Secretaries, Deputy Commissioners and the Nodal officers for desired outcomes.
Earlier, during the day, Chief Secretary visited Poonch and Rajouri Districts to take stock of the preparations made by the respective districts for the visit of the Union Ministers.
