JAMMU, Jan 22: All J&K SRTC Volunteer Retired Employees Association staged a protest demonstration here today at Exhibition Ground, against the administration for not clearing their pending dues. Strongly criticizing the attitude of SRTC and higher authorities of Transport Department, J&K UT towards VRS employees of SRTC, the demonstrators led by Dev Raj Bali, president of VRS Union Jammu raised anti-establishment slogans. Protesting VRS employees said that these two are in connivance with each other and for the last more than 9 years they have been deceived by these two as their dues are not cleared till date adding that in this long struggle 39 VRS have breathed their last as they did not afford medical treatment for want of funds. “We took VRS/GHS on the assurances that our dues will be released within 60 days but it is sorry to state that we are struggling for the same for last more than eight years”, Bali said while addressing the protest gathering adding due to dilly dallying policy of the authorities, the pending dues of VRS/GHS employees which include COLA arrears, 6th Pay Commission arrears and pension benefits has become a total sum of Rs 16,76,49,497. Bali said our own Department is doing injustice with us, as on one hand our services have gone and on the other hand our dues are still pending. Reiterating the demands of the Association, which included COLA arrears since 1999, 6th Pay Commission arrears with effect from 1st January 2006 and implementation of corporation benefits, Bali appealed LG, J&K UT to intervene personally to release balance 50% payments. |
