Jammu, Jan 22: In Ladakh, the Mamani Festival, the festival of Ethnic Foods was celebrated at Shargole Kargil in which more than 19 villages participated. The annual festival was organized by the Himalayan Heritage and Cultural Foundation (HHCF) in collaboration with Youth Educational and Sports Welfare Society, Wakha and Airtel 4G and Supported by Tourism Department Ladakh, Muntazir Enterprises, Zee Enterprises, Ladakh Sustainability Foundation, Shotopa Traders, Heritage Himalaya Magazine and Stawa Magazine at Government Higher Secondary School Shargole Kargil Ladakh. On this occasion Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC, Kargil Feroz Ahmad was the Chief Guest and Executive Councillor for Health Mohammad Ali Chandan was the Guest of Honour, Feroz Ahmad said that food festivals enlighten communities about the importance of reviving their traditional food practices and production which proves instrumental in reintegrating value back into traditional food systems and food culture. Director Tourism Ladakh Mohammad Mumtaz Ali, Deputy Director General AIR Kargil, P K Thakur, SSP Kargil Dr Vinod Kumar, Director HHCF Dr Sonam Wangchuk, Representatives of royal families of Kargil, Kacho Manzoor Ali Khan, Kacho Zulfiqar Ali Khan, Kacho Mehdi Khan and Rani Amma Shema, prominent Ladakhi folk singer artist Dorjay Stakmo and senior citizens and local people in large numbers were present in the festival. |
