Delhi Jan 29: National Investigation Agency (NIA) Director-General Yogesh Chander Modi on Wednesday reviewed the investigations going on in the case of DSP Davinder Singh, who was arrested in Jammu on January 11 along with two Hizbul Mujahideen operatives. The case was earlier handed over to the NIA by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). The NIA had earlier booked suspended J&K Police DSP Davinder Singh under the Arms Act and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). Davinder Singh was caught while transporting two Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists -- Naveed Babu and Rafi Ahmed -- and a lawyer Irfan Ahmed in a vehicle to Jammu on January 11. Hizb commander Naveed babu’s brother was arrested a week later from Jammu. Sources said that DSP Davinder Singh and four other accused continue to be interrogated in Jammu. The NIA had taken a two-week remand of Davinder Singh just last week. Yogesh Chander Modi also met Lieutenant Governor Girish Chandra Murmu and top officials of the Jammu and Kashmir Police. Yogesh Chander Modi briefed Girish Chandra Murmu about important issues related to the internal security situation in the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir. The DSP who was granted state police gallantry for the very same encounter was stripped off the medal after FIR was lodged against him in a terror case following his arrest in Jammu and Kashmir.
