Teachers' demand reorganization of Education Department | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 17: A seminar on "Educational Scenario in Jammu Kashmir" was organized by All Jammu, Kashmir & Ladakh Teachers Federation (AJKLTF) under the aegis of Akhil Bhartyia Rashtryia Shikshak Mahasangh (ABRSM) at Kargil Sabhaghaar here today. Teachers presented papers on the educational scenario and ways to solve the problems. Addressing the seminar Devraj Thakur, State President said that the department has no policy regarding the issues pertaining to the teachers' community in the J&K and Ladakh (UTs). Since 2014 no DPC held in Jammu division in teachers cadre which caused the shortage of Masters in many institutions and effects the studies of students. Addressing to teachers Thakur said that the State having no definite policy with regard to the transfer of government school teachers and was leading to unnecessary confusion every year. Teachers form the largest group among the government employees. However, the successive governments have failed to implement a definite transfer policy. The teachers have been demanding for inter-zonal transfers to ensure better quality of education. However, the government is yet to consider seriously the need for having a transfer policy for school teachers. There may be several hitches in introducing inter-zonal transfer for school teachers. But the government should make some forward move in consultation with teachers, officials and experts, he said. The teachers in Kathua Poonch Jammu Rajouri and Samba are agitating for non seriousness of the Authority to transfer them in times in suitable places. They appealed Lieutenant Governor to take the appropriate actions and instructions for the Education department to fulfil the long pending demands of teaching community.
