Jammu, Feb 18: An enlightening session on ‘Primary Prevention Programme on drug Abuse’ was organised in the premises of Nav Adarsh Hr. Sec. School, Kathua, by Safe Hands Rehabilitation Society. According to press release, the session was inaugurated with the warm welcome being accorded to the Resource person, Amandeep Singh, Social Project Coordinator, RRTC North-II by Gandharb Singh Katal, Director Nav Adarsh. Amandeep addressed the students of Grade- 6th to 12th deliberating upon the ‘Substance Abuse’ among adolescents that leads to naive minds succumbing to consume excess of alcohol and drugs thereby leading to impaired control, disabilities and a negative social image. Expounding upon the reasons and situations that lead to such an abuse, he also dealt with the indispensable role played by family, friends, school and a conducive environment to tackle such issues. The session concluded with the listeners imbibing the essentiality of prioritizing self and learning when to say ‘No’ to avoid peer pressure. The venue reverberated with the lively interactions of the keen students with the spokesperson. Director, Gandharb Singh Katal extended the vote of thanks to the spokesperson for effectively counselling the students and making them aware of the power that resides in every individual. Certificate of Appreciation was also presented to the resource person.
