FCS&CA team books 26 erring shopkeepers

JAMMU, Feb 20: To ensure availability of essential commodities and check the prices of essential items on the eve of Mahashivratri festival, a special market inspection drive was conducted by Enforcement Wing of Food, Civil supplies and Consumer Affairs Department keeping.
During the drive, the teams, under overall supervision of Director FCS& CA Jammu, S. Jatinder Singh, and led by Deputy Director (Supplies), Vishavjeet Singh, Assistant Director (Enforcement), Zaheer Ahmed Kaifi along with area inspectors, conducted extensive market checking in various locations of Municipal Limits of Jammu and nearby localities particularly in areas of Jagti, Nagrota, Panjthirthi, Ambphalla, New Plot, Janipur and other locations.
The team mainly focused on the availability of consumable items like Mutton, Chicken, Eggs, Rice, Milk and Milk products, Sweets etc. The checking team checked over 81 shops on two consecutive days and booked 26 erring shopkeepers for violating various provisions of Essential Commodities Act, including non-displaying of rate list, over charging, use of domestic cylinder for commercial purposes, etc and realized fine of Rs.25500 from the defaulters.
Similar inspections were also conducted in other districts of Jammu division under the supervision of concerned Assistant Directors. Moreover, the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department has requested the concerned authorities for uninterrupted supply to LPG at all distribution points in Jammu division.
