Jammu, Feb 23: National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) has demanded total exemption of dearness allowance from the ambit of Income Tax as DA is directly linked with the price index. "Price escalation is directly linked with the DA of the salaried class and pensioners and hence there was no justification of imposing income tax on the Dearness Allowance. He asked Union Finance Minister to reconsider the practice." Shastri said this while addressing a meeting of NMC activists here.
