JMC’s month long thematic cleanliness, plantation drive to commence today

JAMMU, Feb 23: As part of Swachh Bharat Mission and continuing its drive to keep Jammu clean, Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) is going to start a thematic cleanliness and plantation drive in association with Urban Forestry Department which will last for a month. The drive will commence tomorrow and conclude on March 23.
Chandler Mohan Gupta, Mayor & Punima Sharma, Dy Mayor JMC will inaugurate the function in the presence of Commissioner JMC Avny Lavasa in Raghunath Temple and adjoining areas. During the drivethrust will be made on overall sanitation of the area, tree plantation, desilting of drains including various activities for making general public aware of the importance of segregating waste into dry and wet waste in twin color dustbins; in addition to this desilting will also be carried out in all the deep drains & seasonal nallahs falling within the limits of JMC.
In commercial areas dustbins will be installed by all the shopkeepers to avoid littering and open dumping of waste in bazars and markets. It is appealed to the general public at large to help JMC to make Jammu a smart city.
Among others Baldev Singh, chairman Health and Sanitation Committe and councilors of the respective wards will also participate in the forthcoming drive.
