KVK scientists sensitized on hydroponics technology

Jammu, Feb 23: Directorate of Extension organised one day training programme on Hydroponics for scientists of Krishi Vigyan Kendras under the administrative control of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences & Technology of Jammu.
The programme was inaugurated by Dr. K.S. Risam, Director Extension in the presence of his counterpart at SKUAST-Kashmir Dr. Mushtaq Ahmad Teeli, Director Extension Dr. A.K. Sharma, Associate Director Extension and Dr. Gurdev Chand, Head, Division of Plant Physiology, Faculty of Basic Sciences, SKUAST Jammu, Chatha.
In his inaugural address, Dr. Risam discussed the rationale behind organisation of training programme under capacity building of KVKs sponsored by Director, ICAR-ATARI, Ludhiana.
Dr. Mushtaq Ahmad Teeli during his deliberations presented the experiences of KVKs in Kashmir division. He highlighted the work done by KVKs in Kashmir and new initiatives taken by Directorate of Extension to cover farmers in every nook and corner of the region. He emphasized upon the need to enhance the KVK’s reach for including more and more number of farmers for their exposure to new technologies.
Dr. A.K. Sharma, Associate Director Extension suggested KVK scientists to learn the technology for its expansion to different villages, especially for the benefit of marginala and small farmers. Dr. Gurdev Chand delivered the detail presentation on techniques involved in hydroponics. More than 30 participants, including Senior Scientist and Heads, Subject Matter Specialists and Programme Assistants attended the programme.
