JMC launches drive against unauthorized advertisements

Jammu, Feb 24: On the Directions of Avny Lavasa, IAS Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation & under the supervision of Ashish Kumar Gupta, Joint Commissioner (A) the Enforcement Wing of JMC launched a massive drive against the advertisement displayed illegally in the different areas falling within the limits of Jammu Municipal Corporation. During the drive illegal installed hoarding structure on private buildings and possible places have been dismantled and removed by enforcement team of JMC lead by Tina Mahajan, secy. JMC at various places which include Sidhra, Channi Himmat & Trikuta Nagar extn. etc. The drive against illegal advertisement shall continue.
The installation of such illegal hoardings, sign boards, posters, banners & bill boards were defacing the property, buildings and walls of the city and has also been constant threat to pedestrians and road safety. As per the advertisement, “Whenever any advertisement is displayed in contravention of section 116 of the J&K Municipal Act 2000, the same is actionable as per provisions of section 119 and 384 of the J&K Municipal Act 2000 with fine which may extent to Rs. 5000/- and with a further fine of Rs. 1000/- for every day during which the offence continues.
The Jammu Municipal Corporation appeals to the general public to remove all such hoardings, sign boards, posters, banners, bill boards & pole kiosks installed illegally failing which action as per Municipal bye laws shall be initiated against the offenders and further contravention of the same shall invite penalty against such defaulters.
