J&K to get benefit of all central laws: VC NC OBC

JAMMU, Feb 24: Vice Chairman, National Commission for Backward Classes (NC OBC), Dr. Lokesh Kumar Prajapati, today assured the representatives of various organizations of Other Backward Classes (OBC) that J&K Union Territory would be provided benefit of all Central laws including OBC reservation.
Dr. Lokesh Kumar stated this while chairing a meeting with senior functionaries of Social Welfare and other concerned departments here today.
Special Secretary Social Welfare Department Tasaduq Jeelani, IGP Hqrs Garib Dass, Director General, Social Welfare Department Jammu Rehana Batul, MD ICDS J&K Nitu Gupta, SSP Jammu Shridhar Patil and representatives of various social organizations were also present during the meeting.
Representatives of various social organizations apprised the Vice Chairman of their demands and issues including implementation of Mandal Commission Report in letter and spirit. They sought Vice Chairman's intervention for grant of reservation to Other Backward Classes (OBC) of Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
The Vice Chairman gave a patient hearing to the representatives and assured them that all their genuine issues and demands shall be redressed at the earliest.
Later, Director General, Social Welfare Department informed the Vice Chairman about the status of implementation of various welfare schemes of SWD in J&K.
