Mendhar, Feb 24: The week long Pir Panjal Football League today concluded at OP Hill Stadium. The week long league had begun on 17 February, wherein seven teams from the Jammu Region to include Poonch Panthers, Rajouri Royals, Reasi Kalka Club, Naushera Knight Riders, Doda G R Azad FC, Kishtwar Strikers and Ramban Rovers participated in the league. The match drew a large crowd of locals who emerged to cheer the local team. All team members were beaming with josh amongst loud cheers from the crowd who despite the fear of cease fire violation emerged in large numbers. The final score was 03-00 in which Poonch beat Rajouri in a thrilling match. Poonch was awarded the winner’s trophy and a cash prize of Rs 15,000/- while the Rajouri received the runner up trophy and a cash prize of Rs10,000/-. Adnan Nabi of Rajouri was adjudged the best player of the tournament and bagged a trophy and cash prize of Rs 3,000/-. Vasu Bhardwaj of Poonch and Mr Mohd Shokat of Poonch were adjudged as the highest goal scorer and best goal keeper of the tournament respectively and were awarded with trophy and a cash prize of Rs 3,000/- each. The winner team and the runner up teams were also felicitated with medals.
