MBBA expresses concern over closure of two national news bulletins of Dogri | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 1: Hari Chand Jalmeria, Convener Maatri Bhasha Bachao Andolan, has expressed grave concern over the closure of two national news bulletins of Dogri which were daily broadcast at 8.30 a.m. and 7.15 p.m. These bulletins were started in 1947 from Delhi Headquarter of All India Radio keeping in view the extensive reach of Dogri to neutralize the evil propaganda unleashed by Pakistan regarding Jammu and Kashmir. He said that over one crore people speak Dogri in J&K, adjoining areas of Punjab, Himachal and Pakistan. Dogri, having been recognized by Sahitya Akademi since 1969 and included in the 8th Schedule of the Constitution of India since 2003, deserve respectful treatment and promotion and not demotion. Jalmeria said that the Central Govt. firstly closed the Central Dogri News Unit at Central Headquarter of All India Radio New Delhi in June 2017, assigned the central news bulletins to Regional News Unit of Jammu Station of All India Radio. Now, it has been observed that the two central news bulletins of Dogri with timings: 8.30 a.m. and 7.15 p.m. stand discontinued/ closed for the last over one week. This is painful and a great set back to the Dogri speaking people given by the insensitive decision of Union Government. In a letter written to the Prime Minister Narinder Modi yesterday, Jalmeria has projected the grave concern of the Dogra Community over the closure of central news units of Dogri and requested for restoration of Dogri news unit at Dehli headquarter of All India Radio/Prasar Bharti and resumption of closed Dogri News Bulletins. |
