RAJOURI, Apr 6: In an endeavour to reach to all the inter-state, inter-district migrant labourers and workers who are stranded in Rajouri due to lockdown imposed in the wake of prevailing circumstances that have emerged due to Coronavirus pandemic spread across the globe,the Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Mohammad Nazir Sheikh on Monday convened a meeting with the chairman, Vice Chairman, Ward Councillors of MC Rajouri and civil society members of the district. While speaking during the meeting, the DC said that the civil society members can play a pivotal role during this hour of crisis. He sought their active cooperation in fighting against the deadly virus.He asked them to come forward and support the district administration in these tough circumstances. He said that the inter-district/inter-state migrant labourers are facing extreme circumstances in the view of the lockdown and appealed to civil society members to support and facilitate them during this period. He added that the district administration is working at its full potential so that these labourers and other general public do not face difficulty in everyday life and also essential commodities are being made available without any delay.He also said beside the migrant labourers the District Administration is committed to provide all the essential to the destitutes, poor, rag pickers and physically and mentally challenged persons in the district. He urged upon the civil society members to make all efforts possible in the direction of preventing the spread in the district by awaring the common masses about the measures which can be taken to minimise its spread. The DC said that every effort is being made to streamline the process of essential commodities distribution at the people’s door steps through a mechanism, already in place,but for efficient distribution and tracing of the genuine the Wards councillors could play an indispensable role. He asked the ward councillor to submit a list of the needy residing in their wards so that a a fast track method of ration distribution could be adopted. The DC also appealed to people to stay safe at their homes so that the risk of the COVID-19 pandemic is mitigated. The meeting was attended by among others including Sher Singh, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Mohd Ashraf, DSEO, Bilal Mir, District Panchayat Officer, Abdul Khabir, Assistant Director Food Civil Supplies and Consumers Affairs Mukhtar Ahmed Lone, Tehsildar Rajouri, Sheraz Chouhan, Administrator Aquaf Shahdara Sharief,Abdul Qayoom Dar, President MC Rajouri, Arif, VP MC Rajouri, Bharat Bhushan, wards councillors, Khurshid Mir Janum, Subash Chander, president Beopar Mandal, Rajesh Gupta and other prominent citizens of the district. |
