Went to nab drug peddler, police team attacked | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 8: A police team went to arrest a drug peddler on Tuesday evening but was attacked by the villagers forcing the team to run for safety. In the attack two policemen sustained injuries and had to return empty hands. According to sources, the anti-drugs squad of police had got a specific input about the presence of a drug peddler in village Bhambharma, fall under the jurisdiction of Police Station Rajbagh. Station House Officer Rajbagh along with some police personnel also joined the anti-drug squad and when they reached the Bhambharma village, the searched for the drug-peddler. As the police team approach the drug peddler, a woman raised an alarm following which large number of villagers came out of their houses and attached the police party. They pelted stones and attacked the police personnel with batons, forcing the police party to run for safety. In the attack SHO Rajbagh and a police personnel sustained injuries, who were shifted to hospital. Later in the morning, a huge contingent of police force visited the village to nab the culprits but the accused had already fled from the spot before the arrival of police. |
