Jammu, April 20: The 12th Day of Natrang’s Quarantine Festival mesmerised the online audiences of Natrang with vibrant presentation of ‘Rangla Jammu’, a mega music, dance, drama extravaganza thoughtfully conceptualised, designed and directed by Padamshree Balwant Thakur. It was a great occasion of cultural showcasing of the region for the worldwide audience and a highly enriching experience for them to witness the glimpses of priceless heritage, history of folk Heros and composite cultural ethos of Jammu. ‘Rangla Jammu’ is a unique cultural album of the region showcasing the variegated variety of different colors, rhythms, costumes, designs patterns and artistic expressions. This amazing bouquet of rarest performing art traditions beautifully unfolds the mesmerizing artistic traditions of this part of the world. The production starts with the fusion of traditional musical instruments of the region and transports the audience into a dramatic journey of rarest singing traditions, rituals and festivities of Dogras. From birth to death, their singing never stops. The folklore of narrative traditions of Jammu is full of the rarest tales of bravery, love and supreme sacrifices. Few among them like ‘Bawa Jitto’ ‘Data Ranpat’ and ‘Zorawar Singh’ and love legends like ‘Gilmu Bhagan’ and ‘Kunju Chancho’ still echoes all over. Jammu’s pluralistic culture and its diversity present a unique confluent picture assimilating so many sub-cultures with the artistic collaboration of over 100 performers, designers and technicians, an effort has been made to demonstrate the artistic strengths of this region. The show culminates with the presentation of the unity in diversity of J&K, the harmony and the cultural co-existence of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Rangla Jammu featured over 100 accomplished performers and was created with additional involvement of over 70 musicians and technical experts. On Tuesday, 13th day of this online festival, highly acclaimed Children play ‘Aap Humare Hai Kaun’ written and directed by Balwant Thakur would be featured.
