Reserve 5 Assembly seats for Sikh community: Tajinder | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, June 5: Social activist Tajinder Singh alias Babloo has demanded reservation of five Assembly seats for Sikh community in UT of J&K while exercising delimitation process which is going to start soon. Tajinder Singh said that delimitation process being initiated by the government in J&K must consider reserving at least five seats in for minority Sikh community. Singh said that Sikh community has made many sacrifices and played a significant role in the struggle for country’s independence, adding that after partition a large number of Sikh families migrated from Pakistan to J&K as refugees, who are still deprived of several facilities by the successive central governments. He said the governments in the erstwhile state of J&K also denied political reservation to Sikhs due to which community felt neglected. Singh said that J&K is now a UT and it should implement Minority Community Commission on the pattern of other States and Union Territories, so that the minorities could avail benefits of reservation in education and employment avenues.
