Protect soft targets
6/23/2020 11:33:42 PM
Terrorists choosing soft targets and killing unarmed people has once again proved that terror neither has any face or has it got any religion. Terrorists killing Kashmiri Pandit Sarpanch, Ajay Bharati in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district last month has once again brought to fore the need to protect the people who can be on the hitlist of the terrorists.
Since the outbreak of armed insurgency in Kashmir in 1990, Pakistan’s policy has been clear. Its only aim has been to spill blood and create fear through the terrorists sponsored by it. These terrorists have danced to the tunes of their masters sitting across the Line of Control and have implemented their orders.
J&K people to a great extent have understood that Pakistan is not their friend. Since 1990, Pakistan used every method to ensure that Kashmir remains on fire. To begin with the Pak sponsored terrorists in 1990 went on a killing spree and targeted the members of Kashmiri Pandit community. This led to the forced exodus of Kashmiri Pandit community from the Valley. Only a few KPs like late Ajay Bharati returned to the Valley and gone back to their roots. But Bharati’s killing has created fear once again and the ones who have returned are having after thoughts.
After Bharati’s killing the government has dropped enough hints about enhancing the security of the vulnerable people. There is possibility about security being provided to the people, who are likely to be targeted by the terrorists. Anyone who talks about nationalism and J&K being an integral part of India is a traitor for terrorists and he or she becomes the target. Till date many Kashmiris, irrespective of them being Hindus or Muslims, have been killed by the terrorists for only one reason that they were “true Indians.” Once again, the guns of terrorists are turning towards the “true Indians.” It’s the duty of the State to protect the people who are ready to sacrifice their lives for the nation and are holding tri-colour close to their chest. They need to be protected and their commitment towards the country needs to be acknowledged. The government should ensure that terrorists are kept at bay and no more killings like the unfortunate killing of Ajay Bharti take place. The “true-Indians” are assets and they need to be protected.
