| GST intelligence raids industrial units in Kathua | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, July 10: Directorate General of GST Intelligence (DGGI) officers of Jammu & Kashmir regional unit with assistance from officers of Chandigarh Zonal Unit of DGGI have raided three premises of manufacturers of TMT Saria and Cement located at Kathua.
A total of about 30 officers were involved in this operation. During the search operations gross irregularities were found in records maintained by these companies. The initial estimates of tax evasion in one unit is estimated to be around 3.60 crore for a period covering August 2019 to March 2020 only. During search operations, the officers have seized many evidences from these premises and a detailed scrutiny of records is being carried out to reach the final quantum of tax evasion by these entities.
Earlier in March this year, officers from Jammu and Kashmir Regional Unit of DGGI led by Dr Iftikhar A. Chowdhary has unearthed a fraud involving fake supply of goods worth about rupees 1500 crore involving about rupees 175 crore of ITC fraud in 5 states across India by conducting raids at 30 premises registered under GST by these firms.
The DGGI is a premier intelligence agency of the Ministry of Finance, Govt of India.
