Finally, decks being cleared for Altaf Bukhari led Advisory Council to take shape | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, July 18: Finally, decks are being reportedly cleared for Altaf Bukhari led Advisory Council to be formed in Jammu and Kashmir. Speculations are rife that the Advisory Council for the Union Territory is being given a final shape and an announcement in this regard will be made before August 15 . “Ten to twelve members will be part of the council and it will act as a virtual cabinet,” a source said. It’s in place to mention here that many former politicians from PDP, Congress and NC had come together earlier this year to form the Apni Party led by Altaf Bukhari. “This appears to be part of a larger deal with the Centre that once the Advisory Council takes over the functioning of the UT, at an appropriate time the statehood would be restored once again,” said a source. There were reports earlier that many leaders of the party may get positions in the District Development Boards, and Vice Chairperson positions in the semi-autonomous corporations and boards. Reports inform that the process of the formation of Advisory Council had got stuck because of various factors including the China- India face-off at Ladakh and subsequent crises thereof. With the issue being resolved now, decks have been finally cleared for Bukhari to head the much awaited council. Bukhari had restarted the political activities in Kashmir on January 7, this year after he met the Lt Governor of Jammu and sought restoration of J&K’s statehood and domicile rights to the citizens. Bukhari was accompanied by Ghulam Hassan Mir (President Democratic Party Nationalist), Mohammad Dilawar Mir (Former Minister), Zaffar Iqbal (Former MLC), Javed Hassan Beig (Former MLA), Noor Mohammad Sheikh (Former MLA), Choudhary Qamar Hussain (Former MLA) and Raja Manzoor Ahmad (Former MLA). As per the insiders, Bukhari has shown his strength by making PDP leaders join his party, which has emerged as a Third Front in Jammu and Kashmir. Altaf Bukahri recently stated that the time has come to look beyond Article 370 and explore other achievable options for Jammu and Kashmir. “The pain of loss of Article 370 will never go, but we have to come out of it,” he said. “Life goes on; we must try for things that we can get.”
