UDA flays Govt for shrinking existing limited job opportunities
8/15/2020 12:18:46 AM
EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, Aug 14: United Democratic Alliance (UDA) today criticized the move of the government for abolishing Self Help Groups (SHGs) of engineers and their work quota of 30 per cent working in various departments of J&K government. The alliance also expressed resentment against the government for exclusion of medical assistants from the Central Pharmacy Act.
In a statement issued here today, Rajiv Mahajan, Spokesperson UDA said that the move of the government of abolishing SHGs of engineers and their work will create chaos on ground. He mentioned that there are around 3500 such Self Help Groups comprising about 20,000 engineering graduates, operating construction activities across J&K adding that doing away with the scheme would have disastrous consequences.
Mahajan said it was most astonishing that instead of creating more employment avenues for educated unemployed youth, the government was shrinking existing limited job opportunities available to them. He termed this decision as anti-youth and would bring total developmental pace in Jammu and Kashmir to a grinding halt.
Targeting the Narendra Modi-led government at the Centre, he said that it came to power by promising jobs to two crore people every year. “Accordingly, 12 crore people should have received employment in the past six years, in contrast, due to the mismanagement of Covid-19 and the apathy of the government towards the younger generation and unregulated sectors, at least 12 crore people have lost their jobs so far,” he said.
UDA members appealed to the BJP government at the Centre to come up with a road map for safeguarding the future of Jammu and Kashmir youth failing which they have no other option to come on roads. The signatories to the statement included Manish Sahni Convener, Lt Gen (Retd) Pradeep Singh Mehta Principal Advisor, IG (Retd) Sudhir Dogra General Secretary, Co- Conveners Col (Retd) SS Pathania, Com (Retd) Bhushan Devan, Col (Retd) PS Jamwal, Col J.P Singh, (Retd DC) Vijay Sharma, (Retd DC) and others.
