Chaman Lal criticizes some politician for misleading people on Article 370 | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 14: The former Union Minister Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta has ridiculed the rant of restoration of Article 370 and said it was unfortunate that some politicians are still trying to mislead the people of Kashmir and observed that what is being demanded is against the basic principle of constitution of India which guaranteed equal rights to all the citizens of the country, but Article 370 ran counter to the basic principle of the Constitution. In a statement Prof. Gupta pointed out that Article 370 was incorporated in the Constitution as a temporary provision, but it was an irony that this obnoxious provision remained there for 70 long years despite the struggle by the nationalists that there should be no differential treatment to any community or group of people because of communal and regional considerations. He said that this provision was not only psychological barrier between this State and rest of the country but also a stumbling block for the development of this State. He also recalled that the founding father of the Indian Constitution and Law Minister of the country Dr. B.R Ambedkar was also opposed to this discriminatory provision and had pointed out that as law minister how he could pilot the provision which provided all the equal rights to people of Kashmir in any part of the country but as a law minister how he could opt for injustice that the people of rest of the country would have no rights in the J&K.
