COVID-19 recovery rate in JK reaches 77% as 648 patients recover, 546 fresh cases come up

SRINAGAR, Aug 29: The COVID-19 recovery rate in Jammu & Kashmir has reached 77 percent as 648 virus affected patients who have recovered were discharged from different hospitals and COVID centres of union territory today.
In the meantime, 546 fresh cases of Corona Virus were reported today and as a result of same the number of positive cases in Jammu & Kashmir is 36,377. Since seven more virus affected patients died in the past 24 hours the total number of casualties in the union territory is 685.
Jammu district reported 134 fresh cases of COVID-19 followed by Srinagar 102 cases, Bandipora 49 cases, Budgam 36 cases, Kupwara 31 cases, Ganderbal 28 cases, Pulwama and Anantnag 22 cases each, Kathua 19 cases, Baramulla and Udhampur 18 cases each, Kulgam and Shopian 12 cases each, Poonch 11 cases, Doda 10 cases, Rajouri nine cases, Samba eight cases, Reasi four cases and Ramban one case.
Srinagar district reported two fresh Corona Virus deaths followed by a death each in Jammu, Ganderbal, Kupwara, Doda and Poonch districts. So far 625 COVID-19 deaths have taken place in Kashmir valley with the number of deaths in Jammu division being 60. Srinagar has the highest number of casualties with 217 deaths.
The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 546 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 214 from Jammu division and 332 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 36,377. Also seven COVID-19 deaths have been reported; three from Jammu division and four from Kashmir Division.
Moreover, 648 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 119 from Jammu Division and 529 from Kashmir Division. Out of 36,377 positive cases, 7,672 are active positive, 28,020 have recovered and 685 have died; 60 in Jammu division and 625 in Kashmir division. Out of 9, 43,981 test results available, 9, 07,604 samples have tested negative till date.
Till date 4, 57,336 travelers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for observation which included 44,917 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 7,672 in isolation and 45,707 under home surveillance. Besides, 3, 58,355 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 9,025 positive cases, 1,597 active positive, 7,211 recovered, 217 deaths; Baramulla has 2,784 positive cases, 516 active positive, 2,169 recovered, 99 deaths; Pulwama has 2,565 positive cases, 456 active positive, 2,061 recovered, 48 deaths; Budgam has 2,427 positive cases, 661 active positive, 1,708 recovered, 58 deaths; Anantnag has 2,276 positive cases, 500 active positive, 1,727 recovered, 49 deaths.
“Bandipora has 2,105 positive cases, 718 active positive, 1,362 recovered, 25 deaths; Kupwara has 2,045 positive cases, 622 active positive, 1,377 recovered, 46 deaths; Kulgam has 1,907 positive cases, 202 active positive, 1,670 recovered, 35 deaths; Shopian has 1,690 positive cases, 117 active positive, 1,545 recovered, 28 deaths and Ganderbal has 1,371 positive cases, 466 active positive, 885 recovered, 20 deaths,” reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 2,903 positive cases, 936 active positive, 1,928 recovered, 39 deaths; Rajouri has 889 positive cases, 121 active positive, 763 recovered, five deaths; Kathua has 841 positive cases, 180 active positive, 658 recovered, three deaths; Udhampur has 796 positive cases, 151 active positive, 643 recovered, two deaths and Samba has 714 positive cases, 188 active positive, 524 recovered, two deaths.
“Ramban has 636 positive cases, two active positive, 633 recovered, one death; Doda has 410 positive cases, 73 active positive, 334 recovered, three deaths; Poonch has 409 positive cases, 87 active positive, 318 recovered, four deaths; Reasi has 368 positive cases, 49 active positive, 319 recovered and Kishtwar has 216 positive cases, 30 active positive, 185 recovered, one death,” reads the bulletin. Out of 36,377 positive cases in J&K, 6445 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least 2 meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
