Doctors serving within city limits refuse to serve in rural areas
Defy transfer orders, remain unmoved

Jammu, Sept 2: Doctors posted in Jammu region are allegedly refusing to serve in far flung areas and have managed to get themselves posted within the city limits.
According to the details available with Early Times during the last few months the Directorate of Health has issued transfer orders of few doctors from city to rural areas but most of them have refused to serve join their new places of posting and are trying to get the same orders modified.
Out of the list of doctors who had not joined their services in rural areas one medical officer, who was transferred from Police Hospital Jammu to SDH Gandoh on 31/12/2019 has not joined his new place of positing even after passing of over eight months.
Similarly, another medical officer was transferred from GMC Jammu to DH Ramban on 28/2/2020 while another medical officer was transferred from Government Hospital Gandhi Nagar Jammu to DH Samba but has not joined. Others who have not joined their new places of postings include a Paediaratician, who was transferred from Police Hospital Jammu to CHC Mendhar on 27/7/2020, another physician, who was transferred from DHS Office Jammu to Trauma Centre Udhampur on 27/7/2020, Another medical officer was transferred from DHS Office to PHC Masoo on 5/8/2020, A Dental Surgeon, who was transferred PHC Amb Gharota to PHC Laiter on 14/8/2020, another gynaecologist transferred from DHS office Jammu to DH Reasi on 14/8/2020.
Sources in the department said that there are many more such doctors, who have been serving in city areas for the past many years and have not been transferred to rural areas.
“These doctors as well as some employees are connected to power corridors and have been evading transfers to rural areas. They have remained untouched despite J&K’s transition into a Union Territory,”, sources said, adding that the LG office should order a detailed investigation over the postings of the government employees and those, who have not served in the rural areas.
