Mess at Pratap Park as PPE kits, chairs left as it is after RAT of Residency Road shopkeepers

EARLY TIMES REPORT
SRINAGAR, Sept 9: Messy state of affairs were witnessed in a portion of Pratap Park here in the summer capital of Jammu & Kashmir as left over material including Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) kits and chairs were seen scattered after the rapid testing of shopkeepers was done today.
Reports said that the health officials who carried out the Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) of the shopkeepers of Residency Road left the PPE kits at the venue only thus posing health hazards for the people as a whole. No effort was made to dispose the material till late in the evening.
Since the rag pickers are on the lookout for scrap material it is highly possible that the PPE kits along with the medical equipment would be taken by them. Given this fact there are chances that more people may get affected by Corona Virus once they use the material.
"There are reports that five positive cases were traced during the camp organized today at the Pratap Park. If the PPE kits or the other left over medical equipment falls in the hand of any person there are chances that COVID-19 might spread its tentacles like anything in Srinagar," said a shopkeeper wishing not to be named.
The shopkeepers said that ideally the staff of concerned ward of Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) should have been present by the time the testing was over. They said the PPE kits, chairs, left over medical equipment and the Shamiyana were there in the Pratap Park till late in the evening.
"Awareness holds key to stopping the spread of Corona Virus, but the same is missing in Srinagar city and same got proved at Pratap Park today. The left over material should have been disposed off so that there is no health hazard whatsoever but that was not the case here. Hope the authorities wake up and take corrective measures in future," said shopkeepers.
