COVID-19: Govt evacuates 4,20,393 stranded JK residents; 2,95,464 via Lakhanpur, 1,24,929 through special trains

JAMMU, Sept 10: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has evacuated about 4,20,393 JK residents, stranded in other parts of the country due to COVID lockdown, via Lakhanpur and through special trains and buses till date amid strict observance of all necessary guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures.
As per the official data received in this regard, the Jammu and Kashmir administration has received 141 special trains at Jammu and Udhampur railway stations from different states and UTs, so far, with about 1,24,929 passengers while about 2,95,464 persons from other states and UTs including 934 from abroad have been evacuated by the government through Lakhanpur till date.
As per the detailed breakup of the figures, about 3482 stranded passengers have entered through Lakhanpur from September 09 to September 10 mornings while 1182 passengers have reached today in the 120th Delhi COVID special train at Jammu. So far, 120 trains have reached Jammu with a total of 109,233 stranded passengers belonging to different districts while 15,696 passengers have reached Udhampur in 21 special trains, so far.
Meanwhile, number of trucks carrying essentials into Jammu and Kashmir have crossed 3 lakh mark and about six teams are working round the clock for more than past five months to ensure their regulated entry. The Union Territory is witnessing a significant rise in supply of raw and construction material which is quite suggestive of normal economic activities in J&K.
