EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Sept 13: Encroachment of state land as well as forest land is a common phenomenon in Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, but some people in the hilly district of Kishtwar have crossed all limits of illegalities as they are not even shying away from encroaching portion of the rodas.
In one such instance, some mischievous people in Palmar area of Kishtwar has encroached the part of Banderkoot-Dangdooru road but the authorities including the officials of R&B special Division Marwah have turn a blind eye to the unlawful activity.
Speaking to Early Times, the local inhabitant informed that despite repeated requests to Executive Engineer R&B Division Marwah and other officials, the department failed to stop the encroachment of the road as a result of which they now seek the intervention of Lt Governor to act and prevent the encroachment of Banderkoot-Dangdooru road which is an important road leading to the dam site of 1000 MW Pakal-Dool Power project.
They said that in case of continuous encroachment of the road, it will be difficult for the construction company to shift heavy machinery on this road.
Speaking to Early Times, Sunil Shan said that he lodged a complaint against R&B Division Marwah (Kishtwar) at LG Grievance cell for speedy and necessary action.
"After repeated complaints against the encroachment on Bandarkoot-Dangdooru road, department of R&B did not pay any heed towards our pleas and failed to act," said Sunil Shan adding that huge chunk of the road's portion has been grabbed by the encroacher.
He said that officials of R&B Division Marwah often travel on this road but turn a blind eye towards the encroachment which is being done under their nose, but no one have guts to stop or to serve notice to the encroacher.
The whistleblower said that after long testing of his patience, he ultimately decided to register complaint against R&B Division Marwah at LG Grievance cell in order to check the menace and to prevent the loss of government exchequer in future.
Shan said that he is hopeful that the LG Grievance Cell will pass an order for removal of encroachment of Banderkoot-Dangdooru road so that public of the area may not suffer in the future.
