GDC Vijaypur organizes article writing competition

Jammu, Sept 20: Department of Dogri, Govt. Degree College Vijaypur organized an “Article Writing Competition” based on the theme “ Dogri language: Present and Future”. The aim of the competition was to raise awareness about the importance and significance of Dogri language in present and future era. In this competition many students and faculty members of various Colleges of the JK UT participated with great enthusiasm. The highlight of the event was that not only Dogri speakers but other language speakers also participated in this competition.
The first position was shared by Prof. Brham Dutt of GDC Basohli and Manik Sharma of GCET, Jammu while second position was shared by Dr. Usha Rani of GLDM Degree College Hiranagar and Shuvam Mankotia of GDC Billawar.The third position was shared by Dr. Sheetal Sharma of GDC R.S.Pura, Dr. Tarsem Lal of GDC Pouni and Varsha Rani of GDC Jourian. Consolation was awarded to Prof. Meena Devi of GLDM Degree College, Hiranagar.The adjudicators were Dr. Joginder Singh of MAM PG College, Jammu and Dr. Sunil Kumar Mangoch of GDC Vijaypur. E- Certificates were awarded to the winners of the competition.
The organizing committee comprised of Dr. Shittal Sharma, Prof. Anil Bhagat and Ms. Sonia Bhagat. The whole event was organized under the able guidance of Dr. Sangeeta Sudan, Principal of the College who exhorted that Language is the blood of the soul into which thoughts run and out of which they grow. Further she said being a dogra, Dogri language is like a mother and it is the moral duty of each one of us to protect our language and culture because in the absence of mother tongue it is impossible for both humans and society to progress. Communication between people and Govt. would increase with the becoming of Dogri as an official language and will create employment channels as earlier we needed Dogri but now Dogri will need us. In the end she congratulated all the participants and organizers of the competition.
