Non-BJP leaders being divested of security despite militants’ threats: Harsh
9/24/2020 10:46:47 PM

Early Times Report

Jammu, Sep 24: Describing the brutal assassination of BDC Chairman of Khag, Bhupinder Singh, as the biggest security lapse, Harsh Dev Singh, Chairman-JKNPP & former Minister called for a judicial probe into the incident through a sitting Judge of the High Court. It has not only exposed the tall claims of BJP government of restoration of normalcy post Article 370 abrogation but has brought to fore the extremely fragile security apparatus in the new UT. The gruesome episode is not merely an act of terror but a cold blooded ‘murder’ for which the top security authorities are equally answerable, asserted Singh. He was addressing a press conference in Jammu today.
The pertinent question in the present case, said Singh, was the non provision of any kind of security in the house of the said BDC Chairman who was brutally lynched by the terrorists who fearlessly entered his house and liquidated him. “Why was he allowed to move without security? Why were his two PSOs retained at Police Station? Why was he not given adequate security despite he holding the protocol equivalent to that of a Deputy Commissioner in the warrant of precedence? Why denial of requisite security on political considerations? How did the militants come to know that he is without security in his house?”, rued Singh while raising a volley of questions. If the petty workers of BJP could be given security vehicles and a paraphernalia of security staff and PSOs with escorts, why are the non-BJP leaders despite threat perception being deprived and divested of security cover, questioned Singh. He regretted that security categorization of political and other vulnerable people in J&K was decided by the concerned authorities on the basis of political affiliations. And the non-BJP leaders especially those opposing the policies of saffron regime were being harassed in all possible ways with none to take cognizance of even their threat perception. He said that only recently the Hizbul Mujahideen had issued threats to political persons of J&K but the sycophant authorities and a highly biased security organization of UT had failed to even seek the views of the opposition leaders who faced threat to their lives from such terror organizations.
