Jammu, Sept 25: All J&K Youth Federation (AJKYF) in collaboration with Climate for Change organized Global Climate Strike by holding peacefully rally from Press Club to Gujjar Nagar followed by cleanliness drive at Jammu Tawi River. Ch. Sanjay Singh Sandhu, Incharge Jammu Province, All J&K Youth Federation (AJKYF) said that as the planet is getting hotter, we need to collectively act right now instead of waiting for more. The primary cause of global warming is fossil fuels. Human beings are addicted to burning them which produces coal, oil, greenhouse gases and more which is the reason why the temperature of the earth rises, the oceans are rising and the coral reefs are dying. Moreover, extreme weather patterns are for everyone to see. The heat waves, droughts, floods, are now taking place with greater intensity and frequency. “We have to capture the world’s attention and now it’s time for governments to listen to our demands for protecting mother earth” added Sandhu. Vivasvan Sawhney, Chief Sports Cell and Thakur Mandeep Singh, District Secretary Incharge, All J&K Youth Federation (AJKYF) said that young people are deeply concerned about climate change, as our generation will have to reckon with the disastrous implications of global warming exceeding 1.5 degrees Celsius every year. Millions of young people have turned out across the globe to strike for climate action, and it is crucial for us to have a seat at the table when discussing issues such as climate change that will have such a large impact on our future. |
