Youth Congress holds protest against property tax | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
POONCH, Oct 17: J&K Pradesh Youth Congress staged a protest-cum-demonstration at Poonch against the introduction of property law by BJP led Union government. Dozens of people and youth leaders marked their presence by raising slogans against the central dispensation and termed the property law as black law for entire J&K. The protest was led by Youth Congress District President Poonch Fiaz Diwan, Assembly Coordinator Poonch Shahid Ahmed and District Vice President Sajad Khaki. While expressing resentment over the law passed by BJP led government, Fiaz Diwan said that laws like property tax has pushed the people of Jammu and Kashmir into a critical situation. Talking to reporters, Shahid Ahmed said that the Modi government’s decision of demonetisation, its “faulty” implementation of GST and the inept handling of the COVID-19 situation and lockdown have “destroyed” the country’s economic structure. “When Shri Narendra Modi became the prime minister, he promised the youth of the country that he will give jobs to 2 crore youths every year. He sold a dream, but the reality is that 14 crore people have become unemployed due to the policies of Narendra Modi,” he alleged. Sajad Khaki criticized the J&K Government for abolishing Self Help Group Scheme which has directly affected approximately 16 thousand local unemployed engineers. He further criticized the government for abolishing the result of J&K Bank PO recruitment, termination order of paramedical staff and health workers under SRO24, not-filling vacancies of 50,000 announced by the then Governor of J&K on fast track basis.
