Encroachment in Mendhar town goes unnoticed | | | rajesh tandon Early Times Report
MENDHAR, Oct 30: The locals are facing frequent congestion in market as shopkeepers and vendors have displayed their goods in roadside, encroaching main road in Mendhar town while the enforcement agencies seems unbothered. People face hardships while moving on the road as it remains encroached by the traders who are used to place their goods on the pavements. Many vendors have set up their stalls in the roadside and pavements area, forcing the visitors to walk on road and making them vulnerable to accidents. Not only the venders and traders but many house owners also are eating up the road space by piling up garbage and construction material like sand, Bajri, bricks, iron etc on the roads side thus causing great inconvenience to the commuters. "This virtually has become a routine affair but the authorities concerned have failed to take an appropriate action against the offenders," locals lamented. "Even in some cases patients and physically challenged people land in tight spot and feel hard to deal with congestion on road as encroachment on roads cause hurdles in their way, the sources said. People of the area have expressed resentment against the men at helm for their failure to get the encroached areas vacated so that commuters do not face difficulty to move on roads. They rue that situation in every main town of the Poonch district is similar and urged Governor of Union territory to direct District Development Commissioner (DDC) Poonch to look into the matter. |
