Jammu deserves its share

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha announcing a comprehensive job package for the youth in Jammu and Kashmir is a welcome move as the youngsters are eagerly waiting for the government departments to start recruitment drive.
As on date the number of educated unemployed youth in the Union Territory is very high. Many youngsters are at the verge of crossing the age bar fixed for applying for a government job.
The recruitment process in the erstwhile J&K State was a tardy exercise. After J&K’s transition into a Union Territory people are hoping that the old practices won’t be followed anymore and the process of employing the candidates will be expedited.
The helmsmen are aware of the fact that the number of unemployed youth in Jammu is higher than Kashmir. This fact needs to be considered while creating the new avenues for the generation next.
During the past seventy years Jammu has been at the receiving end as the Kashmir centric politicians never allowed Jammu youth to come forward and take the lead. They always laid their focus on Kashmir and for them Jammu didn’t exist. Kashmir always remained a priority for them. Now, the times have changed and people of Jammu are hoping that the discrimination which they faced during all these years will also end.
Soon after Jammu and Kashmir was reorganized on August 5, 2019, the Centre had promised special development and a job package for J&K. People were assured that whatever has happened during the past seven decades will be washed off and a new era of prosperity will begin.
The plans which were formulated have been delayed due to the outbreak of COVID-19. However, since the day LG Sinha has taken over the reins of Jammu and Kashmir things have started moving at a fast pace. The development works have been expedited and people are feeling a change in the ground situation.
LG Sinha has been keen on empowering the youth from the day one. He is on mission to take J&K to new heights. During the meetings which the LG chaired, he directed the officers to ensure that Jammu gets its due share and this region doesn’t face any discrimination.
Prior to 2014 assembly polls, political parties in Jammu region had based their election campaign on providing jobs and creating more avenues but these parties failed to fulfill their promises and left the people disappointed. But now hopes are high and Jammuties are hoping that they won’t be left out.
