EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Nov 6: The entire Jammu province had to face an open discrimination in the allocation of kerosene oil by the Department of Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) for the month of August and September this year. Surprisingly the ten districts of Jammu province have got merely 792 kilolitres of Kerosene Oil supply for two months, while for the same months the Kashmir province got over nine times more volumes of oil that was 5496 kilo litres of oil. According to the documents in possession of Early Times, vide order number 91-JK(FCS&CA) of 2020 dated 17/08/2020 the ten districts of Jammu province have been allocated merely 396 kilolitres of kerosene oil for the month of August and the same amount for the month of September. Out of the ten districts, Jammu, Rajouri and Udhampur districts have been allocated no supply of kerosene oil for these two months, while the maximum supply was given to Kishtwar district that was 240 kilolitres for two months, while Doda and Reasi got 120 kilo litres and Ramban 144 while the rest of districts got less than 100 kilolitres of oil in two months. But the 10 districts of Kashmir province got 5496 kilolitres of oil in two months comprising 2748 litres in each month. The maximum supply was allotted to Anantnag district with 840 kilo litres of oil in two months, while Baramulla was allotted 816 kilo litres followed by Srinagar with 792 litres of supply. The minimum supply of oil was allocated to the Shopian district which was 296 litres in two months. But surprisingly the minimum supply of Kashmir district was even higher than the maximum of Jammu province. “What criteria has been adopted by the Department is still unknown but if the population is the criteria then Jammu district should have been given maximum kerosene oil, which has highest population across Jammu and Kashmir and if the tough geographical area was the criteria than Rajouri, Poonch and Doda, Kishtwar, Ramban, Reasi would have been allocated the maximum oil supply as most of the areas in these districts comprised of hilly terrain”, an official said, adding that the figures openly exposed the discrimination in the allocation of kerosene oil supply, which should be stopped. |
