Major crackdown on ‘deadwood’ after DDC polls | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 26: In the wake of complaints of “corruption and administrative inertia”, New Delhi has decided for a major crackdown on the “deadwood” in the administration. Sources said New Delhi has already prepared a list of the deadwood, which includes some senior officials in the civil and police administration and that the matter was discussed threadbare with the Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha during his recent trip to the national capital. Sources say Prime Minister, Narendra Modi was personally interested in a “strict action” against the officials, whose conduct “could by any means sabotage the essence of good governance.” Sources said Sinha had been shown the list of the alleged deadwood and that his viewpoint on the action against them was also taken into consideration. It was reliably learnt that the issue of the alleged deadwood was discussed for around two hours at the residence of the one of the top ranking Union Cabinet ministers in New Delhi. Sources said the MoS in the Prime Minister’s Office Dr Jitendra Singh was “also in the loop” over the issue and that his “feedback on the issue was of paramount importance.” Sources said the action against the deadwood would start with their attachment adding that formal cases would also be filed against them. Sources said Sinha, who is known for his honesty and integrity, has welcomed the plan, and told the Union government that such an action would benefit the idea of good governance. It is pertinent to mention that Sinha has been showing his commitment towards the idea of zero tolerance against corruption. Sources said since day of his interaction with the administration in Kashmir, he has strictly cautioned them about the issue. The Early Times had already reported that New Delhi was planning for a major crackdown against alleged corruption in the system. |
