| GDC Vijaypur organizes online lecture on Drug Addiction | | | Early Times Report
VIJAYPUR, Dec 8: An online guest lecture on "Beyond Alcoholism and Drug Addiction" was organized by Government Degree College, Vijaypur in which renowned author Ajay Vaid was the resource person.
In his motivational lecture, Ajay Vaid stressed upon the students that addiction begins with experimentation with a substance and there are many reasons someone might initially try a drug which include curiosity, peer pressure, stress and problems at work or home. No one expects to develop an addiction when they begin experimenting. However, continued experimentation can lead to addiction, often without person realizing they have become addicted until they try to stop. He emphasised upon the students to stay away from the menace of drugs and alcohol as consumption of the same could result into several health complications like weakened immune system, abnormal heart condition, nausea, liver damage, seizures, problem with memory and decision making which makes daily living very difficult. He advised students not to fall prey to alcohol or drugs and ruin their future and urged them to lead a highly disciplined life for grooming their personality and inculcate moral values for their better career and should concentrate on their studies. He even talked about the various types of addictive substances which are easily available in the market these days and how they affect the nervous system. |
