Give opportunity to people to have elected govt: Rajni Patil
‘Why assembly polls should not be held in J&K’
12/11/2020 12:13:35 AM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Dec 10: AICC Incharge Jammu and Kashmir Rajni Patil has said that why the Assembly election can’t be held to restore an elected Govt. to the people of Jammu and Kashmir, if such a direct election to the DDCs are being held, even ignoring the covid-19 situation.
Talking to reporters at the PCC HQ Jammu before leaving Delhi here today afternoon, Rajni Patil questioned why early assembly elections should not be held to give opportunity to the people to have their elected Govt., when such a big electoral exercise of direct election is being held to the DDCs. She said that the Govt. Went for these polls, abruptly, during the ongoing covid-19 situation putting the life of the people and the political workers at risk as a result many of the senior leaders including of the Congress party have got infected during the campaigning. As the Govt. announced the holding of polls, the congress party is fully participating. If these direct elections are possible, why can’t early assembly elections give chance to the people to elect the Govt. of their choice, as people can’t be deprived of having an elected Govt. for a long time in a democracy.
Flanked by PCC Chief G.A. Mir, she also questioned BJP and the Central Govt. to tell the people when the statehood is being restored Jammu and Kashmir besides securing jobs and land rights to the people which is universal demands of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
The Congress party shall struggle for securing these rights to the people of J&K.
She also expressed great concern over the denial of adequate security to the Congress, especially to the senior leaders and prominent office bearers of the national party. She termed the matter as serious and said that this is being done with a view to dissuade the Congress leaders from aggressive campaigning during these elections. The policy of pick and choose in the matter of security is wrong and unfortunate, the senior AICC leader said. The PCC Chief G.A. Mir also regretted that despite constant raising of the issue of discrimination in the matter of security, the BJP Govt. at the Centre and UT administration is not responding as a result the Congress leaders are vulnerable to security risk. PCC Chief Spokesperson Ravinder Sharma said that the independent Election Commission was also approached by the party well in time to put pressure on the Govt. for ensuring proper security of all during elections but nothing happened. He also referred to the incident of violation of modern code of conduct by the ruling party in Sunderbani area when a truck loaded with solar lights allegedly sent by the local MP was sealed on spot, but expressed apprehension about lack of proper FIR and follow up action, while seeking strict action in such matters. Earlier Rajni Patil interacted with the senior leaders of the party at PCC HQ to get feedback about the ongoing elections and the current political scenario and the organizational affairs.
