PDP hits dead end
1/5/2021 11:02:21 PM
Peoples Democratic Party winning only one DDC constituency in Jammu has proved it beyond doubt that party stands decimated in the region.
The party enjoyed a good following in Jammu region when late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed headed it. After his demise, the party lost footing in Jammu as his daughter Mehbooba Mufti after donning his mantle left behind the secular credentials of the PDP.
After Mehbooba took over as the chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir, she left no opportunity to appease the separatists and Pakistan stooges and even the enemy country.
During her tenure she announced general amnesty for 10,000 stone pelters and compelled the Centre to announce a unilateral ceasefire against the militants.
She allowed separatists and the anti-national elements to have a free run. Her acts led to leaders from Jammu region maintaining distance from the party and ultimately calling it quits.
People of Jammu have always stood with the country and have never supported any such party or an organization that believes in glorifying violence and indulges in communal politics. One seat out of 170 DDC constituencies in Jammu should serve as an eye opener for Mehbooba, who during her tenure ignored Jammu and just kept on talking about Kashmir.
The PDP biting dust in the recently held DDC polls is the end of the road for the party in Jammu region. People not voting for the PDP is a message to Mehbooba that there are no takers for her politics in the region and she can no more hoodwink the people.
Since the day Mehbooba has been released from detention, she has tried to toe the line of the rebels. Her statement that she won’t hold the tricolor till J&K’s state flag is returned had evoked sharp reaction from every quarter and demand for booking her under sedition was raised from every quarter.
Mehbooba, herself is responsible for the PDP getting rejected in Jammu. Had she not abandoned the principles of her late father, today she and her party would not have been on the crossroads. It’s not only Jammu, the PDP has failed to make its presence felt even in Kashmir where it won just 26 DDC constituencies.
The PDP leadership should sit back and think about the mistakes it has committed. It needs to bear in mind that there is no place for separatism and sedition in New India.
